XO Kitty Story

At the center of the story, we find Kathrein Song Covey, also known as Kitty, played by Anna Cathcart. Kitty wants to move to South Korea to finally meet her long-distance boyfriend, Dae, played by Choi Min-young.

Upon convincing her father and stepmother, Kitty embarks on a journey to South Korea. She enrolls at the prestigious Korean Independent School of Seoul, or K.I.S.S. for short. It is the same institution where her late mother and her beloved Dae is currently a studying. She arrives in school with the intention of surprising Dae, only to have her heart broken upon learning Dae is cheating on her with Yuri, Played by the talented Gia Kim.

Due to a misunderstanding, the school mistakenly assumes that Kitty’s last name, Song Covey, as a male. She is then placed in a dormitory with three males — Dae and his friends Q and Min Ho. As the series progresses, it is revealed that Yuri comes from a wealthy family, and her mother has a important position in school. Surprisingly, Kitty finds out that her mother and Yuri’s mother were once best friends back in 1993. But When Kitty introduces herself, Yuri’s mother refuses to recognise any relationship with Kitty’s mother.

Kitty takes the role of a matchmaker, trying to help her classmates find their soulmates. As the story moves forward, it becomes clear that Yuri’s relationship with Dae is a farce, confirming Kitty’s suspicion. Yuri was keeping Dae by her side due to family pressure to maintain a positive public image. This is especially important because Dae’s father also happens to be Yuri’s dad’s driver. However, Yuri’s goal is to keep quiet about her own feelings for another girl, which she refuses to openly admit until later in the series.

Throughout all of this, Dae still has feelings for Kitty and tries to explain it to her. Although Kitty is still angry at Dae’s betrayal, she has come to terms with the situation and moves on with her life.

Meanwhile, Yuri discovers that her mother had sent away a girl named Juliana, assuming that she and Yuri were romantically involved. Yuri, consumed by rage, refuses to go along with her parents’ demands and finishes her relationship with Dae. She also fearlessly comes out to her mother as lesbian.

Although life at school appears to be perfect for everyone, Kitty feels unsatisfied after reuniting with Dae. She realizes that she is having feelings for Yuri. Yes, Kitty is being drawn to Yuri in a surprising manner.

XO Kitty Review & Conclusion

However, given its depth, “XO Kitty” falls short of being truly revolutionary in any way. Similar shows, such as “Never Have I Ever,” explore themes of love and self-discovery, making this show feel unoriginal. Nonetheless, its strong South Korean connection differentiates it. Fans of Korean dramas will discover a fascinating blend of American and Korean cultures. The series realistically transports viewers from America to Seoul, offering an engaging experience worth exploring, by showing Korean traditions and including Korean conversations.
